two different bootable back ups on same ext hard drive?

As the title of the post suggests. Can you have two different bootable back ups on the same ext hard drive?

I am borrowing someone elses and they have a bootable back up of their hard drive on it already. As I am going to instal SL I thought it would be safer to have a bootable back up of my own hard drive on it.

Any help is appreciated.

You need one partition per bootable backup. So if you partiton the drive, yes, you can! 🙂

Also, when I have installed it and everything seems OK. Would I be able to delete the partition (and my back up) from the hard drive?
