Is it possible in MacOS to have two desktops with different scaling and/or resolution rates?

Reason is that on occasion I will be using the mini with a small 13" touch screen monitor for on stage work, and the scaling/resolution I have for the "desktop" display is a bit too small for practical use on stage.

AFAIK the resolution is set at the display level and not the workspace level. You might be able to setup a Shortcut automation to switch resolutions when you switch workspaces. I don't use workspaces and have never tried that but it seems like the capability might be there.

cool thanks - I will research it further then. Didn't;t want to waste time on something that was not possible in the first place haha!

I use multiple displays and spaces (as I call them) all the time and have been forever, and I think Tagbert is right. Basically, you plug in a new monitor, go to systemsettings/screens and set the small resolution for that monitor, configure 'organize', color and all that. When you drag a window to that monitor, it will seem more 'zoomed in' than it looked on the monitor with the higher resolution.

(Added; I think you should have 'Screens have separate spaces' enabled in systemsettings/desktop&dock)
