Hi. I have iphone X (the only device i have) I have apple id and phone number assossiated with it. I have two factor autherntication on, so it sends me verification code if i try to log from other device ( i havent logged from other devices but when i try to log from safari (apple id) it sends me that verification code again.

Now i need to factory reset my iphone. I fear that if i sign out from apple id and reset the phone to facotry, when i try to relog to apple id through username and password what will happen. Since i would have been logging after the reset what if it blocks me? From the apple page it doesnt allow me to turn off two factor authentication. So once i sign out and reset the device it will be like new device and what if it doesnt allow me to log in with my apple id?

I belive that too but what if it doesnt? What if it still searches my iphone as trusted device even if it's already signed out and reseted. I've never done that thats why i worry. With all my passwords and chains atteched to the apple id it will screw me big time if i cant log in to it.

Non of my family members uses Apple device, neither my closest friends do. Yes, i am from a poor country :X

Last time i used iphone (iphone 7 plus) it was two factor verification wchih only used my phone number as verification. I was with andorid for like an year and now i am back on iphone X, it seems they officially changed it to two factor authentication now which uses the device itself. So i was warned from a couple of people that if i sign out and i have no trusted device i wont be able to log in again because after the factory reset the device will be "considered" new and wont allow access. I am not sure if thats true.

I see no option to turn it off. I was also told that it can't be. That seems illogical. For a guy who has one device only thats bit crappy.
[doublepost=1516146406][/doublepost]New Apple ID account can't turn off two-factor authentication
You can't turn off two-factor authentication for some accounts created in iOS 10.3 or macOS Sierra 10.12.4 and later. If you created your Apple ID in an earlier version of iOS or macOS, you can turn off two-factor authentication. Apple documentation has a specific description about this

Thats what i found on the web
[doublepost=1516147927][/doublepost]If you lost the trusted device or phone number associated with your Apple ID
As long as you still have your Recovery Key and remember your Apple ID password, you can sign in and add a new trusted device or phone number to your account. You can also remove any devices you may have lost, sold, or given away.

  1. Go to your Apple ID account page and enter your Apple ID and password.
  2. On the Verify Your Identity screen, select "Can’t access your trusted devices?"
  3. In the pop-up window, enter your Recovery Key.
  4. Go to the Security section and click Edit.

So this is what i found, it seems i need to find my recovery key first if things go messy?
[doublepost=1516148292][/doublepost]Ok guys it seems i figured this out. I have to activate RECOVERY KEY first, than write it down somewhere, than factory reset the device, that when i sign in i will use that recovery key, once i am done i cant disable it and keep going with my two factor autherntication. So please if someone can verify that this will work i will be very satisfied. Thanks :)

So how long have you had your iCloud account? I'm assuming since you had the iPhone 7 Plus, you might have created it before 10.3. That means you should be able to disable it. Try following these steps and see if you can before you logout of your device.

From Apple: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204915
To turn off two-factor authentication, sign in to your Apple ID account page and click Edit in the Security section. Then click Turn Off Two-Factor Authentication. After you create new security questions and verify your date of birth, two-factor authentication will be turned off. If you don't see the option to turn off two-factor authentication on your Apple ID account page, that means you can't turn it off.

Hi, i signed with new icloud when i bought iphone x, so its like a week old. The old icloud is long forgotten, since i reseted the phone and sold it back in january last year.
