I guess the two things that remain are 1) being able to mess around with the Touch Force and have 5th generation processors and 2) having a computer that is exclusively for work.

As for 1) - It's a freaking trackpad and not some revolutionary technology breakthrough. As for the processor, how fast is fast enough? I don't see the justification there. #2 is subjective and only you can make that decision. But, if a trackpad is one of your primary motivators, I'd stick with whatcha got and not look back. As for size/weight, I go back to the days when a "portable computer" was the size of a suitcase. What does a 15" rMBP weigh, slightly north of 4 pounds? I think you can handle that. :)

Yeah, I'm just more or less expressing the two things that could drive the fever back up.

I have messed around a bit with the Touch Pad, and it is quite nice. As for the separate work computer, it's more or less because I would rather get stung by bees than have to use a Dell.

I alway exclusively used the 15" MacBook Pro, with the event of Retina and far better power consumption I gave a high tier 13" rMBP a try in 2014, and have never looked back. The 13" I can scale to the same workspace, it runs far cooler, far longer and is much quieter, as in virtually silent. I find that in general only a minority of applications can actually take advantage of the 15" Quad Core CPU and fewer still need the dGPU as a requirement to run.

Amen!

All depends on how you want to work, I consult and work for myself, so I choose what hardware I use  When I was in "corporate" I always had separate work and personal use Notebooks. As for Dell no good words here, never had one last more than 18 months before it started having issues

Hey, what do you know? My fever is back up and I am itching to get this machine. But it's a good thing I live in South Sudan (a humanitarian worker) and will have to give it some thought before I go home in October. I wanted to complete my arsenal with a iPhone 6s and space black Apple Watch.

Hey, when you live abroad you don't have to pay income taxes ;)

Well, I'm going to treat my desire to buy another rMBP as a fever - wait until it breaks. If it keeps running high, I'll cave. But lot's of good suggestions here. And surely, the 15" isn't exactly a burden to carry around. I guess the two things that remain are 1) being able to mess around with the Touch Force and have 5th generation processors and 2) having a computer that is exclusively for work.

But no reason to rush in unless the lack of a second MacBook becomes unbearable.
i have found that my desire to carry only my 15 around has become quite harsh. I have started taking it with me for a few days and noticed that i like the portability of the 13 instead. Ill stick to the 13 for work and 15 at the house.
