Yesterday, two unreleased Apple devices were discovered in Indian regulatory filings. A further two models have now been spotted ahead of the expected announcement of new iPad models next month.

The second wave of listings, spotted by MySmartPrice, appears in the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) database with the model numbers A2898 and A2899. This joins the two models seen yesterday with the model numbers A2836 and A2837. All four model numbers do not correlate with any existing Apple devices, but four new iPad models are expected to launch next month: A 10.9-inch iPad Air, a 12.9-inch iPad Air, an 11.1-inch iPad Pro, and a 13-inch iPad Pro.

It is not clear whether A2898 and A2899 are new iPad Air or iPad Pro models, but both product lines are expected to be refreshed in May following repeated delays. The appearance of new Apple devices in regulatory filings typically indicates that their release is fairly imminent.

I just wish, WISH, they'd have multiple user login in iPad. My girlfriend uses it 99% of the time for art, but i'd love a log in with my apps and logins on for when i want to watch something or browse the internet. As i've barely touched the iPad since it came out despite buying multiple of them it's just easier to let her have it 100%.

If there's another BIS update on Monday, oh gosh imagine the excitement...

so hang in there mini users, you never know, Apple loves guzumping grrrman

If they don’t do anything about the iPadOS you might as well buy the 2020 iPad Pro. There is so much power but you can’t really do anything with it.
My 2020 12" is so capable it's crazy to think I'd need an upgrade - for my current use case at least........now if they changed the OS to something closer to MacOS, I'd upgrade immediately.

While that's true, I'm afraid Apple will make those devices obsolete 4 years earlier than the new ones. When you buy a new device, you are also buying 5-6 years of support. A 2020 iPad might have limited updates left, even though it's powerful enough.

Yeah I know what you are saying. But look at it from this perspective, compare the current iPad Pro with the one from 2018, that’s 6 years. Is there anything, anything at all standing out from all those generations apart?

While I agree about multi-user support you can use a combination of Focus Modes to control apps and settings and Tab Groups to control Safari browsing.

“Buy your girlfriend an iPad.” That’s Tim’s answer.

The MiniLED screen on the 13”. The cpu/ram on the M1/M2 which I notice in art apps and Raw photo editing apps. People who use the ipad for video editing on an SSD will notice the faster USB-C. The M2 iPP has hover for the Apple Pencil which is great for artists. The 2018 iPad does not have stage manager on an external display.

If all you do is content consumption then the M1/M2 doesn’t offer you anything except for MiniLED, but people who use them for more complex tasks do get benefits from the newer iPads. But I think you knew that.

I would want more capable apps perhaps something more akin to what macOS has.
Part of Apple’s challenge is figuring out what the iPad is going to be when it grows up. Yes, it’s a touch first device but it’s being marketed more recently as a laptop replacement meaning it shouldn’t be a touch first device. On the other hand, you still use is mainly as a touch screen device if you don’t connect a mouse and keyboard. Quite the conundrum.
There is a part of me that believes there are disputes internally at Apple in terms of direction the iPad should go. Remain touch first, shift to keyboard/mouse input first, run macOS, don’t run macOS, etc. The next few years will be fun to see what happens with a device that was originally created just for content consumption.
