Have you thought about trying out Screens 5 to just access your iMac from away?
A while back I did something similar but until you mentioned it I forgot. I will look into this again, thanks.

Spec bumps here we come!

To be honest this is going to be a big one. We're getting redesigned Airs and Pros with landscape cameras, OLED screens in the Pros, larger screen option for the Air, a 'more laptop like' Magic Keyboard with function keys and aluminium casing and a new Apple Pencil with new functionality.

Hardware wise this is the most exciting release this year.

Are spec bumped Airs and Pros really doing much for you?
It doesn't move the needle an inch for me personally

iPad hardware is so far above "great" (other than the iPad Mini and that screen) ...

For me it's all about software deficiencies on iPads ... still

They aren't just going to be spec bumped, that's my point.

I agree about software but lets see what WWDC brings.

I’m curious what people really want in a new iPad if they consider this just a spec bump to them.

Many iPad owners keep their tablets nearing 100 months.

My 2018 iPad Pro A12X's turning 6 in 5 months time. I am thinking of replacing it although iPadOS support will likely end January 2027.

Anyone with a 6-9yo iPad will want that 2024 spec bump or price cut on the 2021-2022 iPads.

It may come as a great shock to many MR users that majority of humanity do not replace per spec bump.

iPad mini Pro:
  • 9" OLED ProMotion Display
  • M3 SoC
  • 2TB SSD
  • 24GB RAM
  • Landscape Camera
  • Apple Pencil 3
  • Stage Manager
  • Hybrid iPadOS/macOS
macOS enabled when connected to keyboard/mouse/external display & using Stage Manager

Install a proper clipboard manager, have a terminal with brew support, have any sort of proper background process manager, a decent desktop interface, run full software (Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro), Parallels, Visual Studio, browsers with different engines, support for multiple OSes, disk utilities for partition management, support for advanced security software (XDRs like Cortex or CrowdStrike), or basically anything that a Surface tablet can already do, even when they use Snapdragon processors.
They should be called iPad Pro for a reason.

Good answer! Better than just waaaaaaaaaaaa.😛

Except what you’re essentially asking for is changing iPadOS into MacOS. That’s another discussion.

Because Final Cut Pro and Logic Pro does run on iPad. Perhaps not like desktop, but it has to have a different interface.

And how non-Apple apps are implemented on iPadOS are made by their respective developers.

*Oh, geez, guys! I'm so excited for the new iPads.

I can't wait for all the power they'll be getting made possibly by Apple's latest chip.

It's the all-new, best ever, most iPad iPad. And we think you're going to iPad!

..iPad!

*Feel free to repost this at all future iPad launches. It'll be as fitting today as it will in ten years.

Interesting - so you buy multiple but you only keep one between the 2 of you? I'd imagine you could have your own and she could have hers.

I meant more that i've bought multiple since they came out, despite never really finding a constant use for it. She's used it for art over the last 3 months more than i've used the iPad in it's entirety since it was released.

I think there was a time I had 3 of them at once actually. I bought the 12.9" solely for using as a Logic remote on a desk. Then I had a normal size and the mini - I think the mini has been my favourite iPad overall.

Yeah the mini is a very underrated iPad in the lineup. It prioritizes portability while having a decently large screen.
