Is anyone thinking of mixing colours for the Apple case and smart cover for the iPad mini 4? Which combinations would work well (and not just make it look like you clicked the wrong button when ordering)?

I have a midnight blue case with a stone smart cover. The reverse might look better. Not sure.
I didn't want a solid monochromatic look

actually the way you have it probably better as far as keeping it clean... you'll be setting it down on it's back a lot and the white is more apt to get dirtier more quickly...

I hadn't thought about 2-toned until I saw this thread...

white with red would look good, too (actually most of the colors with a white cover would look good!)

I opted for the grey Smart Cover and the white with darkened Apple logo. The white does attract some dirt/dust, but overall pretty happy with the look and color combo.

Would those of you with both the case and cover recommend both? I was going to pick up the Smart Cover this afternoon, but these combos look really sharp!

If you can get over the overpriced aspect of them, in regards to cheaper alternatives out there and in the near future, yes I would recommend it.

The back case isn't the thinnest but the good protection and quality feel makes up for it. I love the fact that I can remove the cover without taking the back case off(that was the case with my last mini with a different brand case and cover). There are times you don't want the cover flopping around when using it, so it's convenient.

Very creative idea to mix colors to get a unique look.
If I do it I'd go for the black case since it's doesn't show as much dirt and then get the red or dark blue cover.

Looks fantastic in two toned.

I'm wondering whether these covers make the iPad considerably heavier. Could anybody who got the cover and case tell me what they weigh?

I was going to do this and go two-toned with the midnight blue back/white cover.... however the case added just enough to the mini that I didn't like holding it.

my original mini never had a cover (just a skin) but I thought I'd try something different (and I really like how the blue/white combo looks).

i think I'll go for an orange case with a stone cover instead of midnight cover+case...

Is there any gap between where the magnetic cover and the cutout of the case meet up? Is the iPad visible through there?

I was using an old first gen iPad to keep track of my kids baseball games so I wasn't too worried about it getting dirty or dusty. I upgraded my primary iPad 2 to a Mini 4 and would have gotten the Smart Case if they made it, but since they don't I guess the Cover/Case is the only Apple Option - I'm just a little hesitant about dirt kicking up from being in the dugout and scratching up the side where the 2 pieces meet.

I've looked at a few other cases (not many out there yet) but what I always liked about the apple cases was that it covered the buttons and was pretty form fitting around the ports not many of the after market cases fit that precise.

There is a slight gap between the case and the cover on that side of the iPad. I can see my gold mini peeking through. I used a durafolio on my air because it was the only portfolio case I could find that protected all 4 sides of the iPad.

thanks, that tiny slight gap would I've me nuts.
I picked up a Speck StyleFolio from Best Buy to use for now. It was really all they had which was somewhat slim and offered decent coverage. I'm still not thrilled cause the buttons are exposed but it'll do for now. I'll keep my fingers crossed Apple comes out with a Smart Case for the 4.
