Two-Tone Poly Mac

Wanted to share my latest project. I don't know if I love it or hate it, but I know it's been done before... Sort of. Basically, early 09 A1181 logic board was placed inside. In order to make it work, some light chassis modifications were made to the stand offs as well as nuts added to back of logic board in place of stand offs to secure heatsink. Everything works, it looks cool, thought I would share.

That’s cool mate! I swapped the keys on my 2010 last year with those from a MacBook Pro, and I’ve been loving and turning heads with it ever since. White with black accents like you have is an awesome look.

Hey man, that looks nifty. Makes me wonder why apple never tried anything crazy like this. VW has all these generic, but elegant looking cars. Similar to how apple designs computers. VW then releases a limited edition harlequin golf, and they are a hit amongst enthusiasts. I think apple could succeed in marketing a limited edition Mac, like ours. Or even just bring back a newer version of these unibody poly Macs for a limited time. I guess it's their loss, it makes ours that much more unique.

If anyone has drawing on this logic board, I'd like to figure out a way to reconnect the "sub woofer" speaker. If that's even what it's called. That's the only problem with this mod, or the way I did it due to the difference between the two bottom cases. The plug was missing on this board, so the connection is sitting the case just hanging out. I would assume that I can solder it in to the existing speaker connection, as how it is on the early 2009.

I have a sub-woofer on my mid-09' which IIRC was the last to have that body style before the unibody polycarbonate MBs. I don't have a picture of the logic board but I know for a fact that it has one because I just exchanged the bottom case.

I gave a good look at the two bottom cases and logic boards, however, they both have the subwoofer speaker, but they are wired differently between the two.
