Two Watches - Sending Drawing and Heartbeat Back

I've got two Apple watches. Each connected to separate phones (my wife and I). Both phones operate on different Apple IDs but the same iTunes/App Store login. When I go to send my wife a drawing or heartbeat. It sends and then 2 seconds later it says on my watch "you have a message from (my phone number)" and it's what I just sent. Why is it sending it back to my watch using the original sending phone number???

hmm, as a test have you tried disconnecting from your wifi?

Not yet - I'll try that although regular texts and calls are working fine.
