Hi,

I just got the iPhone 3G and I had a quick question out of curiosity. We aren't using 3G here in India so my two forms of connectivity are Wi-Fi (while I'm at home or work) and EDGE.

While I'm at home, I will be connected on both these networks. So when I download a video or check my email, will it be through the Wi-Fi or the EDGE? I don't pay for or have a limit with Wi-Fi but with EDGE I'll be paying.

Is there any way to tell which is being used? Or is there any way to tell the iPhone which to use?

Thanks a ton,
Ashwin

The iPhone will always default to your WIFI network (after you've used it and entered the password atleast once). All data will use wifi at home, but calls will still go through edge. As soon as you leave home, it will default to edge and won't switch back to wifi until you return home or choose a new wifi network from the popup menu that appears when you are in range of a network. iPhone remembers the wifi networks you use and will always default to them when available.

You can tell by looking at the top menu:
