I've been planning to buy a Macbook Pro, but was amazed when I saw how little resolution they have. That's why I'm going to get a 15" screen, but even that size seems small to me. I've been using 1680x1050 on my 15" laptop for years now. I decided to wait for the upgrade in hopes that they increase the resolution size to something more typical to today's computers.

Apple has always had craptactular resolutions on their laptop. I recall the 14" iBook having a 1024x768 resolution, years after other manufacturers had adopted better resolutions (I had some generic 15" at the time that had a custom resolution... 1400x1050 or so)

Aside from the absurdly pathetic resolutions on some of the laptops, are the other aspects of Apple monitors (contrast, color accuracy, brightness, etc) usually considered exceptional? Or are the monitors on the Pro line more prosumer than professional?

At least the 17" MBP has a resolution on par with those offered by other brands, but in a lighter, smaller package. So it's certainly looking quite appealing--as long as the 15" remains unchanged in resolution.
