the Blackberry keyboard that we all loved back in the days is back. Woohoo! Nooooooot. Who in the right mind would create something to limit the iphones most attractive features in favor of a dead company's design?

It's interesting because for Japanese kana/kanji the iOS keyboard is insanely fast since we flick/swipe to each 4 directions to get the kana we want instead of hen-pecking. And usually the character or even word we want appears within the first 2 flicks (Japanese predictive is much faster since the keyboard is character based). iOS keyboard probably the most beneficial for the Japanese language in terms of speed. Even faster than Chinese because Chinese you have to use Pinyin.

The natural movement/speed of someone comfortable with a Japanese keyboard is similar to some of the 3rd party swipe keyboards but without using a 3rd pastry keyboard.

I can't stand typing English in Japan. Takes sooooooo frikkin' long (comparably).

that lawsuit was a blessing in disguise for them, because it would save them the trouble of wasting money on making a product that hardly anyone would buy. for some reason they didn't learn from their first mistake...

If Blackberry isn't going to make the type of device that their small base of customers want, it's fair that companies are going to try and make the other phones look better with a product like this.

And if this makes the transition more comfortable for them when it comes time, so be it.

I personally think when iOS 8 gets more stable, that third-party keyboards will be the end of it though.

It's obviously not a product with existing iPhone users in mind.

I would say the fact it makes your iPhone comically tall is the biggest drawback. Surely a slide out design would have been more sensible?

Clearly this company has to know that no one is actually going to buy this. The iPhone keyboard is the best on screen keyboard there is. I guess they're taking a gamble.

This video is horrible .

If you going to post a video on this site make it work. I have tried 2 different browsers and still lagging my internet is fine. This link sucks for video.. Get it together if your trying to sell your cheesy case.

The very thing that Steve Jobs abhorred and wanted to put in the trash can in designing the iPhone.

Steve Jobs would say almost anything that would sell one of his products. Quoting him is about as meaningful as quoting a late night infomercial.

The main thing he said about keyboards was that they took up too much of the front of a smartphone. He demonstrated this with pictures of smartphones that were half screen, half keyboard.

(Note that he disingenuously ignored all the smartphones that had full size touchscreens PLUS a hidden slider keyboard. He also ignored the fact that an onscreen keyboard took up half the screen when activated... unlike the aforementioned slider keyboards.)

There's a market for this keyboard, although I cannot imagine that it's very big.

Typo Launches New iPhone 6 Keyboard, Avoiding Previous BlackBerry Lawsuit

I wonder how many pre-orders they will ship.

After having owned both my iPhone, iPhone 3G, 3GS, 4 and 4S I got a Blackberry Bold for my corp. e-mail (Only thing the company thought was okay security wise at the time). Didn't even want to consider using it as my daily phone, and relatively quickly stopped writing mails on it and only read them.

After using on-screen keyboards for a lot of years, I don't think I will ever go back. This is a product for people who (for some reason) haven't used the appropriate time to learn how to get up to speed with on-screen keyboards..

First of all:

> ...claiming that most of Typo's core fanbase wouldn't mind omitting Touch ID in favor of using a physical keyboard.

Erm, no. We mind. Even those on a budget, buying the 5s right now, are doing so for the TouchID as a contributing factor.

I don't understand, are you saying you are or aren't a Typo fan?

I think their claim is right, If you're buying 'Typo' then it's quite obvious you will be willing to lose Touch ID. no?:)

For the record I'm not a fan.

"CEO Laurence Hallier (who co-created the Typo keyboard with Ryan Seacrest) didn't express worry over the issue, claiming that most of Typo's core fanbase wouldn't mind omitting Touch ID in favor of using a physical keyboard."
