Interesting the two platforms, UK would side with Apple. Particularly its Google's business to profile/track users online..

If this was one *their* own apps it would have been "ok" by the government. "Google can do what it wants", yet when it crossed the line, on the Privacy circle, all of a sudden everyone screams in terror. and wants Google not do track. Basically saying "you can do this elsewhere, but "us" "

That''s not how to do business... It's like you a discount every time you go to a store, because i know you by family.

When i would have also said the same... Its still Google's business, why should they change practices to suit others? When they are not with their own apps.

Perhaps if there were a "GoogleRumors.com" site there might be. Given this is an Apple-focused site, it's hardly surprising it's so focused on good and bad Apple news.

Having read the original article, it's very light on details as to why it was blocked. If these companies aren't held accountable, they've shown time and again they don't have any 'conscience' of their own.

I don't see where did he mention MacRumors?
It's about media in general, and particularly these YouTube click baiters who desperately keep searching with their magnifying glass for imperfections on any new Apple product so they can create the next YouTube hit out of the thin air and slap the "spectacular infamous" GATE name on it to get the desperately needed attention. They all choose to be blind and silent when it comes to scandals of other tech giants. And the guy you quoted is just wondering why?

Am I slow to wake up? Yes. Did I fail to understand the extent of Google’s willingness to be underhanded and their greed? Yes. Because their customers already willingly give up almost everything. It’s hard to fathom how much more they insist on taking through outright deception and subterfuge. Am I naive? Not usually, but I’m feeling pretty naive right now.
A refreshingly honest post and wonderfully absent the sneering "I've known this for years, have you really only just realised?" attitude that pervades so many posts on tech forums.

The deeper issue is this - once upon a time it was the case that a company/Corporation could only do what its stated purpose was and no more. (There's an old British High Court ruling on this from the 1800's - "it's s great mistake to think a company may do anything except that which the law expressly forbids. It may only do that which the law expressly permits." (sic) Edinburgh & Dalkeith Railway vs Wauchope (if I remember correctly)). Now the opposite is true. They do as they please, in fact not only going so far as to take the law into their own hands, but then being able to shrug off the law after the fact.
This will likely not end well unless legislatures begin to get a meaningful grip on the Corporations, and soon.

Google should be fined all over the world for their shady practices. It's no wonder that Google and other social networks are banned in China.

The UK legal system is very much world class. However, I have to say not holding Google to account for the underhanded tactics is not a good or just decision and one that will come to haunt the UK in the future. Tech related data and privacy concerns are not just some issue to be brushed under the carpet and all big companies should be held accountable. The US had the Equifax disaster and this kind of thing will be used to bring down governments if not attacked on a legal level for consumers. The internet poses a threat like no other to democracy and current government systems and it'd be unwise for laws to lag so far behind.

**** Google, Twitter, Whatsapp, Instagram, FaceBook. I'm sick and tired of all these so called "Social Media" giants invading and making money off of us by stealing and selling our private information to 3rd parties without our consent! It's time we do something about this as a whole. Time to fight back. Delete and stop using anything related to these evil corporations. I'm glad I deleted FaceBook, and replace Google with DuckDuckGo. I don't use those other "social media" sites so I'm good.

We can't tolerate this type of behavior anymore. I'm sick about hearing about all these privacy breaches that have been going on. It's getting way out of hand. Boycott these corporations. What they are doing is illegal.

The information on all the nefarious deeds these 'social media/tech giants' are doing is a plan to groom the public for their eventual take down. Google especially is involved in some heavy treasonous behaviors. There will be hell to pay soon.

I guess I have two reactions to this: First, if you dance with the devil (Google) expect to get burned (privacy violated). Second, as the influence of the EU wanes toward Brexit, the UK courts and Parliament will not protect civil rights. To me that is one of the scariest things about Brexit.
