As the discussion has evolved in the UK iPhone 12 thread it seems there are a few who are preordering the new M1 powered Mac’s in some capacity.
Rather than carrying on in there I thought it best to start a thread and a poll dedicated to these new machines.
Please feel free to add details in your post about the spec you ordered.

I ordered a 13" MBP. Why? Don't know to be honest :D I have a perfectly functioning employer-issued 16", but I also wanted to grab one of the Apple Silicon Macs to make sure that our software works well with it. Basically, a development machine. I plan to sell it next year when I can get the next upgrade from my work.

Do you have a link?
I can’t seem to find them, though I did have the same issue with the leather MagSafe cases for the 12 until I had a link to one and then they all showed up.

Yes, as soon as I saw the event last night it struck me that the new MacBook Air was excellent value for money and could be a belting little performer, comparatively speaking. I’ve ordered the base model for light use; social media, surfing the net, watching YouTube and Netflix etc. It arrives on Tuesday or Wednesday next week.

I got the base MPB as I use my 5K iMac for most work.

Sold my iPad Pro 13" with Magic Keyboard in preparation; it just couldn't work with web coding set up no matter how hard I tried to workaround this.

Excited for this and will upgrade to a higher spec when the new chassis design comes in '21 or '22.

Arrives Wednesday. Card not charged yet - anyone know when that could happen?

Nice one, I sold my iPad Pro 13inch for a 2020 Macbook Air earlier this year and haven't regretted it for a second.

I am considering selling my 2020MBA and picking up an M1 MBA.

Is eBay the best place to sell? I try and avoid eBay if I can.

Its strange there's no 16GB stock option for the MBP so we've taken a step-back again to it being a BTO option which adds to the shipping time.

Mac mini 16GB 1TB arrives 25 Nov. Purchased a "secondary" mac to try out the M1. Not too bothered about compatibility as I have an i7 MBP + eGPU as my primary machine. I'm looking forward to testing out FCPX 10.50 on the M1.

Amazon CS rep confirmed monthly payments will be available from 17th November launch day
Amazon is giving credit now?

I'm not ordering as a I have a 2020 MacBook Pro and M1 cannot support Parallels yet. Do any of you use Parallels or any visualisation software? What are you upgrading from and what kind of performance driven tasks do you do?

It isn't a credit agreement, you just need an Amazon account in good standing for about 1 year and they'll offer you to split it into 5 monthly payments. :)

Ah makes sense, I don't seem to have that option and say's I'm not eligible. Maybe because I have a business account. Who knows!

Yeah, Amazon do a 5 month interest free payment system.
I do not plan on using parallels or virtualisation on my M1 Mac. That’s what my MSI is for. The Mac will be a personal machine.
