The tech industry will be damaged beyond repair. Who wants a device and then have to go through 4-5 different companies and payment systems. Apple is working fine of 90%+ of the population. Why even get into business to have a profit or run a great business only to have it torn down.

Sorry but $pple is not 90% of the population. More like 10% .

That Epic is a crap company?
No Apple's anti-consumer and anti-developer business practices. Read the Congressional report rather than trolling me. Thanks.

Here are just two examples:

I hope this helps you better understand the issues and why Congress will be acting.

Apple failed to address developer relations in any serious fashion at WWDC, and so they’ve now reaped the reward: a bipartisan bill specifically targeting the App Store business model.
You really think that's how this went down? Congress watched the keynote on Monday, and felt sorry for the plight of Apple developers, and spent the last 3 days writing 1000 pages of legislation?

I still can't understand what Spotify is complaining about. It totally dwarfs Apple in music streaming, yet because they don't have EVERYONE, they think Apple is keeping the few that haven't joined them hostage or something?

Because you like $pple being the BIG bully and calling all the shots. Spotify can we use our own pay system for subscribers? $pple NO! Who do you think you are? We created the Appstore. NO! Bad Spotify! BAD BAD BAD.

At some point Netscape dominated Microsoft explorer then they disappeared 5 years later.

Eventually they won't be able to keep up with Apple if they have to pay the same royalty fees that Apple does plus 30% of their revenues on top of it. The maths are pretty easy.

Multiple payment systems and application sources have worked great for many many years in Windows, Linux, and Macs. Don’t like it? Don’t use it! Just like you do when you’re on a PC/Mac. The rest of us want to have more freedom to do what WE want with OUR devices.

Apple can put an option saying: “installing application from outside sources can be dangerous, are you sure you want to do that?”…. Click yes or no.

Simple as that. I want to be able to get open source application like in Macs/PCs/Linux and not have to be dependent only on Apple, because they push developers to charge us freaking subscription fees for stupid simple applications like Calendar apps.

Open it up for more competition and better apps! Locking down the store does not benefit the consumer but Apple only. Costing the users more money because Apple pushes developers to offer subscription for less fees. If they want to do that… fine… I would download a similar app somewhere else then that is open source.

Its funny, it started when 90% of the comments on MacRumours were defending for Apple....

As Bush Jr. said, "Bring it on''

^ who the HELL wrote these policies as in with what text editor? Try copy pasting from the source in the first Bill

#1 and above is what you get. Clarified below:

(4)restrictor impede a business user from ac-cessing data generated on the platform by the activi-ties of the business user or its customers through an interaction with the business user’s products or services,such as contractual or technica lrestrictions that prevent the portability of such data by the business user to other systems or applications;

I don't think 'Bring it on' is what you really would think or say if you actually read EVERY bill word for word in detail.

My money is on this being kabuki theater.

Remember those big banks that caused the great financial crisis in 2008? Those guys are bigger than ever despite 12+ years of dog & pony shows in DC.

FYI Big Banks did NOT cause the financial crisis in 2008.
It was the Federal Government authorizing certain insurance practices that were new and fully protected the Federal bank, the banks and their loans and dumbasses taking out multiple mortgages on their homes without fully READING what's going on.

vitriol spat as verbatim is like blind leading the blind.

There is a GREAT specific special on what went down on Netflix as a precursor for you.
Greenspan, and Bernake are featured in full.

They have lost a lot of market share to streaming. They don't have near the power they used too.
If you're talking ISPs, that's a different story, those should be regulated like landline telephone service, electricity, and water.
They went all jumped into streaming but this is their last resort. At this rate cable is cheap again thanks to all these available streaming services a normal Would subscribe to when you add the ISP bundle.

Similarly, if you’re up for some amazing history (now; then it was a documentary) on the topic, Andrew Ross Sorkin’s book “Too Big To Fail” is fantastic. You can feel the weight on everyone as it all went down.. literally.

About time. The concept of antitrust/antimonopoly is an old one, when people talk about a time when america was "great" - these types of policies (as well as labor unions) curtailed corporate greed. Look into Teddy Roosevelt and the trust-busters. This legislation seems to enhance competition, not stifle it. I see this as a win for all Americans.

Without updating these laws to apply to the 21st century? One of our country's greatest assets - the fair and free open market, cannot exist.

i will give you that, but now look at the people that are running the unions....1 guy was just caught skimming 1.5 mil off the union money.
