From the same folks that broke health care! They are definitely the problem, not the solution.Oh great politics is getting involved. The App Store sure was great while it lasted.
Honestly, I can't imagine anything more useless than another senate subcommittee on anything technical. Kudos to Apple for skipping the ********.Apple has decided not to testify in a U.S. Senate subcommittee hearing on antitrust issues related to mobile App Stores, and U.S. senators have called Apple's refusal "unacceptable," reports Reuters.
Are you implying healthcare was working before? From the same folks that broke health care! They are definitely the problem, not the solution.
100% this.Waste of time, why not spend this time on something else? Like looking into why ISPs charge an arm and a leg for a half assed internet connection.
AT&T, Verizon, Comcrap and the likes have been milking the American people with their regional monopolies over network for years and I haven't seen on private hearing with tangible laws released. Yes, the FCC and its Net Neutrality helps, to an extent.
that's all politicians does act like they're doing somethingI don't really see the point. Tim has participated in the past, but it was a colossal waste of time. I sincerely doubt anything will come out of this latest dog and pony show. Mostly its politicians trying to get some soundbites and appear to be doing something.
I'd rather see them take up privacy and give us something similar to GDPR.
Yeah it’s really infuriating on this site. I hate fanboyism.Ah, I can see from all the responses that the Apple-can-do-no-wrong fanboy force is especially strong in this one.
Exactly, there's a real monopoly bilking us every day and they waste our time and money on thisWaste of time, why not spend this time on something else? Like looking into why ISPs charge an arm and a leg for a half assed internet connection.

Last time they asked almost nothing but stupid questions of Sundar Pichai. The politicians use the public hearings to increase their general knowledge about tech things the don't want to spend time reading up on. I would not be surprised if they ask stupid how-to questions in such hearings. How do I get a widget. How do I turn off notifications. How do I buy a kindle book on iphone.
I’m implying that the government has a history of breaking things they stick their hands into. In the context of the article, I believe any regulations they try to impose would ultimately harm the consumer. Are you implying healthcare was working before?
Apple, like every company and most individuals, is a tax avoider — big difference — one is legal and the other is not. Unless you have proof of evasion?Dam right it's unacceptable not to testify.
APPLE is a Tax Evader too.
Is it worth participating in a hearing when most of the people doing the questioning in these high-tech matters have no idea about technology in the first place? Even simple matters, for instance, that Facebook doesn't own Google. There is NO benefit to Apple participating.
And, there is NO real need for a Hearing.
ALL of the facts are known !
Congress just needs to move forward with the proposed New Laws !
BTW, "Public" Hearings with Congress participating are a known Waste of Time !
ALL most member of Congress want out of such Public Hearings is Ammo for their RE-election campaign TV commercials !
ONLY "Private" Hearings have ANY real chance of being productive !
