Im in the market for a 1Gb USB stick, however, all of the current ones by decent manufacturers have this U3 stuff on them and say they only work with windows. Its really pissing me off, i dont want some generic no-name USB pen, ive had one before and it was terrible.

If i bought one of these U3 pens, could i use disk utility to re-formatt it and take all the wierd crap off?

I've never come across a Windows only flash drive. At the moment I have an OCZ, which is pretty damn quick, and quite cheap (£15 for 1Gb)

I haven't found any with that on it, and i've had 3 so far. go to www.ebuyer.com and have a look for a viking 1gb. i have it and it works fine with mac and windows.

It's too bad that they don't have a similar software package for macs. Then again, how many macs do you come across at work or in internet cafes?

It's too bad the U3 software makes the drive inoperable on a mac, it would be nice to have normal drive functions and the U3 'environment' when you need to plug your drive into windows computers. I need to use windows, but never at home, so these types of drives would be useful. :(

I have the sandisk micro cruzer 2.0G. It has the U3 software and it worked as a regular usb drive on my macbook. I uninstalled the U3 stuff today. I hated the fact that it tried to install on every computer I plugged it into. Image a presentation on a corporate computer and everyone seeing 'installing new software' .... ARGH!!!! They have an uninstall utility but I had to do it on a windows box.

I love the 2G size!!
