I am going to install Ubuntu on my Blackbook using xVM Virtualbox. I just have a few questions.

1. How much memory should I assign to the VM?

2. The download contains no spyware/viruses, right?

3. Is it really worth it?

How much memory do you have? Do half?

The Ubuntu download? It's safe from official sources. If you get it off {site reference removed} for example, who knows. =D

Ubuntu rocks, I'd go for it. It's great for people starting to use Linux.

1. Ubuntu Desktop (i.e. with Gnome) seems to be completely content on 1GB... 512MB is slightly dicey in my experience.

2. The download of Ubuntu? No, of course not... Just download it directly from Canonical.

3. That would probably be easier to answer if you explained why you wanted it in the first place. Is it worth it? I mean, in what sense? Your computer already has one perfectly good OS on it. Linux is perfectly good also, but what do you plan on doing with it?
