I did the Apple store reservation(pretty much worthless), because for the Pre-order I didn't trust them to actually get it to me on Friday. And after seeing some people's problems I think it was a wise move. I am leaving on Saturday for vacation, so I have to get it Friday. If I buy in person, I'm guaranteed to get it.

I just wish I knew if people were lining up there right now.... hmmm...

I strolled in at 6PM after work last year and was in and out in under an hour. Seems like there's less hype around the 3GS. I don't think it would matter but I'd definitely get there at least 30min before they open if you want to be sure to get on. Apple stores usually stock A LOT of phones.

Yeah, when I purchased the original iPhone, I went to the Tice's Corner store around 6pm and had no waiting time.

I think I'll drive by at 7am to see how much of a line there is tomorrow morning. If it's too long, I'll just stop by after 5pm.

I went to my local Apple store after 8pm on launch day of the original iPhone and I was in and out in less than 5 minutes. I plan on doing the same thing tomorrow.

I'm already here there must be 300+ of us already here! hey btw if you guys are coming tonight can one of you guys bring a pizza. Ya can't miss me I have on a :apple: t-shirt!

wow I cant imagine that in Millenia thats insane! could you post up a pic? :)

I asked an employee at the Apple store what time I should get there. She didn't even know that the store was opening early for the release, and said if I showed up at like 9-10 there would definitely still be phones etc. After seeing some of the times others are going in on here, maybe it wasn't so ridiculous after all for me to want to be there around 4.

I'll be there around 7. Besides the phone selling out before I can get one, here's my biggest worries:

1. AT&T security deposit. I have never been late or missed a payment on either of my credit cards, but I am pretty close to my credit limit because I didn't watch my spending last year. I checked my credit report recently though and it seems to be okay, so maybe the deposit won't be too bad. I have $400 in my checking, and if I can't afford to activate it, I will not be happy.

2. Not being able to get a family plan. Because I'm doing this through the Apple store, they have it so I either need to do an individual plan, or a family plan with 2 iPhones. My girlfriend doesn't want an iPhone however. According to AT&T, I can switch plans without extending my contract, and I can still get my girlfriend the phone she wants (Samsung Impression) at the subsidized rate. I hope this is correct.

Any input?

You can switch plans at will on AT&T, or at least they let me. Only thing they care about is if you keep service. If I remember right if you go family plan you have to keep service for both phone over contract term.

.... right to the question.....

Yes, you just get the cheapest individual line today at the Apple store and then you can merge both lines into a FamilyTalk rate plan over the phone with Customer Care. No impact to your contract duration and it can be done today or when your GF is ready for the Impression.

Where are you getting the GF the Impression, you should also be able to the FamilyTalk and plan merge there at the same time. Just make sure you know which line you really want as the primary (your iPhone) and double check that it gets done correctly.

got my iphone about an hour ago :) there were only about 20 people ahead of me in line, and maybe 50 more behind.

they had two lines, one for people who had placed a reservation online, and one for people who didn't. for every 14 or so people who did, they would let one person who didn't into the store. I was surprised because I thought the reservation thing was just BS, since there's "no guarantee" etc, but it was actually worthwhile.

anyway I'm loving this thing!!
