Is istats reporting this incorrectly?

With intel I remember fans spinning up and cpus maxing out around 95-100c.

Just playing youtube videos I'm watching my 16" M1 Max macbook show the following types of numbers in iStat:

118-123 performance cores
cpu core average 118
gpu 121

All of this looks WAY high to me - istats reporting incorrectly?

Also disabled AV1 playback to check VP9 and saw similar numbers.

I’d think that if your palm rest was 88C you would know as you’d be able to cook an egg on it.

Mine are significantly warmer and my fans are not running yet. Nothing to be worried about, at all! My MacBook keeps my hands warm during winter and I appreciate that hidden feature, do I ever!

Yup was fahrenheit as expected. Wild that the M1's can even playback AV1/VP9 without full hardware decoding and sit around 125f/51c

LOL ya these obviously weren't in celsius, was just trying to figure out if it was flat out wrong or actually reading Fahrenheit.
