Sorry I have to repeat this, but it's a tolerance level issue. UI lag is a frame rate discussion. Some people can deal with less than 30fps animation, others can't. So it's pointless to accuse people of denying there is lag, because those people don't see it as an issue.

On the other hand other people need 60fps everything or they won't be happy. You are seemingly in this group. Yes, flipping through the calendar app is not buttery smooth, and yes it does suck. Unfortunately for you it doesn't suck enough for people not to buy one and for it to be one of Apple's most popular products. So the best you can do is deal and let Apple continue to work on the UI experience. If 10.8.3 is any indication then you will see improvements of the software front, and the hardware will obviously get better and more capable.

If you can't wait, if you "hate" your retina MacBook then I don't see the point in torturing yourself with this issue. Just return it or sell it and then get a classic like peejack did.

It has nothing to do with tolerance level and 30 FPS or 60 FPS. Complete non-sense. If it takes half a second to go into mission control, than this has nothing to do with low FPS. Furthermore, when connecting the very same mac to an external display, it runs smoothly as every Mac I ever used. There is a clear problem with the drivers and the retina display. I am quite confident that they will fix the problem with the new OS. I will not accept that my 2009 Macbook running Mountain Lion, has no GUI lag whatsoever while my maxed out 2012 machine struggles. Full stop.

There was a user a while back who did some calculations about the thermal output on different rMBP's, and found that the increase to the 2.6ghz macbook pro caused in increase in the heat that the computer can't adequately deal with, causing more lag than on the lower end models.

I've given up trying to figure out what's what, I'm just waiting for the next revision :)

Did you have a link for this post ? This is a nonsense. TDP is the same. Highest freq CPU are best samples, they have their top speed at lower voltage. There is an IC similar to a 486 CPU to handle Amp, voltage, freqs and so on within each Core processor. I switch from a 2.3 GHz 8 GB to a 2.6 GHz 16 GB, temps did not change. There is less UI lags with the 2.6 GHz.

I was talking about perception of the issue as it currently stands. No one's saying there isn't lag and it isn't being addressed. There is definitely lag and 10.8.3 shows that Apple is aware and is addressing it.
