    Hi there,

I have searched for this answer but unable to find an anything, sorry if this has been covered previously.

I'm getting a new PAYG O2 iPhone this week but have to use my works Vodafone SIM card in it. Will the iPhone still get the 12 months of free O2 WiFi access with a Vodafone SIM inserted?? Is the phone authenticated by MAC address on to the Clouds access points like the iPod Touch's are or is there another layer that requires an O2 SIM card in?? Is anyone using the free PAYG WiFi with another SIM??

    Thanks

You might have trouble unlocking your iPhone but...

When you log on to the cloud it asks for your mobile No. thats all. I have even used this to log onto it with my powerbook. You may need to have Your SIM in the first time you log on to opt into the scheme, I cant remember. but as long as you remember the O2 No you should be ok

Although I havnt tried it yoour way. Good luck. Let us know how you get on.

Caution before you spend the money. If it already has firmware 2.2.1 on it from the factory build, you will not be able to software unlock the phone, so your Vodafone SIM will not work in it. O2 phones are locked to O2, even the payg ones.

It's a lot to pay out to find out afterwards that you can't do what you want.
