Apple have a few in stock and John Lewis had a couple of models in stock too... Otherwise you're in for a long wait unless you get lucky like me with using https://www.istocknow.com/ to notify you when the model you want is available in store. I had an online order with a 4-5 week wait, but picked one up from regent Street at the weekend

I preordered a 42mm Stainless Steel Cellular model as soon as the preorders went live. I was given a shipping window of 2-3 weeks and a shipping date of October 9th to October 16th. I just checked and my watch has already gone to preparing for dispatch so it looks like I will actually get it a lot earlier.
I checked in store pick-up availability at my nearest Apple stores through the iOS app at 7am on Saturday. I was lucky that the model I wanted was available to reserve at Bristol Cabot Circus the same day.
So my advice is to try reserving one early in the morning.

I managed to buy a 42mm SB SS model with a SB milanese loop (there was only one available); I guess someone had cancelled their reservation a few minutes earlier.
I got it at Apple’s Covent Garden store.

right, I went to the apple store on my bike last night and they had none available
(also they were not pleased about the bike in the store

Hahaha, tell them you're spending good money so if they let kids and dogs in store you can bring your baby too!

Use the notifications on the site too, you'll get an email as soon as the watch you want is in stock and you can quickly go and reserve it. This is what I did with mine and saved me a 5 week wait
