Mentioned this in a few other threads but thought it deserved its own.

I'm going to the Regent Street Apple Store for launch and will probably take my MacBook - do you reckon you'll be able to buy and then sit down there and then and activate on the Apple Store WiFi?

I've got a 2 and a half hour trip back to Ipswich afterwards and travelling all that way with an unactivated device might bring me to tears.

If you're taking your MacBook, then you should be set. Just connect to iTunes and go from there. :)

All the US iPhones I have seen opened (25+) have been 85-100% charged out-of-box, and I assume that the UK phones will be the same. So you should have no problem with battery life.

I spoke with the employees at West Quay Southampton Apple store and they said that they plan to leave their free wifi on. However, they strongly recommend against activating your phone in West Quay.

You won't be able to activate your phone physically IN the store, whether on your own Mac or the store's macs.
