Hi all,

I purchased an iPhone as a gift on 3rd January, however the recipient is finding it difficult to adjust to iPhone, having owned Samsung devices in the past, and has decided to stick with Samsung for now. I was just wondering if Apple would offer a refund for the iPhone, even though the box has been opened and the device has been used for the past two weeks? The device is in mint condition, with all accessories still in place.

I looked at my receipt, and it states: Return Date: Jan 20 2016.

I purchased from an Apple retail store, and would like to return to the same Apple retail store if possible. Just unsure if the return date applies to sealed products only?

Thanks!

In the US, open box is ok. A quick look at UK site suggests that only software must be sealed for their online UK store. You'd think UK retail would be the same.

Sometimes employees and managers will try to create their own policies but at first glance, it looks like you might be good to go. Remember that your wireless service is not with Apple so it will need to be managed or cancelled separately. Good luck!

Unless it has been physically damaged, Apple shouldn't give you any difficulty.
People might return Apple products, for not much of a reason, such as wrong color, too slippery, too light or too heavy, etc. Or, maybe it's really simple: They don't like that product.

You really don't need any reason to return prior to the return date.

I suspect that your sales invoice would state something like: "No returns - or reduced refund for return of opened/used items".
I don't think you will find anything like that on your sales receipt.
Take it back, and good luck for the future!

You'll be fine. I returned a mini last year after 10 days of use, just decided it wasn't for me.
Refunded, no questions.

I did it last year with a 6. The guy checked it over said that's great thanks and gave me a full refund.

As long as its pristine and not damaged you won't have a problem.

They don't care if you've used it or not. I bought an iPod touch and some beats earphones. I used both and returned them on both occasions within the 14 day period and I was given a refund. No questions asked.

I returned an iPad Mini after 5 days of use to refund and buy an iPad Air.

No issues at all.

One of the easiest Returns I've been involved in.
