Does anyone know what sims will work the UK iPad. To be more precise does anyone know if a Three sim would work?

I read in a thread that Three seem to be blocking the iPad after a few days of use. I use Three in a Linksys MIFI device without problem but haven't got a iPad 3G yet to try in that.

Three use crossover technology with other networks so have to pay if you use data services of their 3g only network. For this reason they actively monitor device usage and if they discover you're using data on GPRS or Edge (which you will be if you're using a device other than theirs, cos their internet devices will only connect when you have 3g coverage) then they will block it as it loses them money. You can bypass this by getting a cheap THREE phone with si card and tethering, or by buying a miwi.

Back to plan A which was a mifi and a three sim from ebay with 12gb data loaded onto it

Three are allowing ipad access now.

I haven't tested three myself but I've got cut-down paygo Vodafone and orange sims on the go no probs.

Three have taken a massive u-turn under pressure it seems!

3 could clean up here. The iPad could be a breakthrough product for them. They have by far the best 3G coverage, but with the fewest users (=better contention).
