Last year I got no information at all from DHL. No email, not tracking, northing.

I was calling them and Apple to find out what was going on. About 3pm there was a knock at the door and the DHL guy was walking away and had just left my iPhone 12 on my doorstep 😮

🤞 for DPD this year

So true. I just had a pair of Airpod Max delivered yesterday by DHL. I'd entered specific instructions on where to leave them if I wasn't in. As it happened I was in when they delivered but the driver never even bothered ringing my bell, he/she simply left the package on my doorstep which is not where my clear instructions told them to leave it. I only knew that it had been delivered when I got a text saying package delivered. Because the doorbell never rang my first thought was that they had delivered to the wrong address which DHL and UPS have both done before so I went to the tracking info, saw the driver's photo of the package on my doorstep that had been sitting there for over 30 minutes by then on a fairly well-trafficked street. I rushed down to see if it was still there - luckily it was but yet another annoying screw-up by DHL.

In my experience all of the original "big three" couriers are the worst - DHL, UPS and FedEx. Like you I breathe a sigh of relief when I see that something I am ordering will be delivered by DPD. I've also found Yodel to be pretty reliable but my joint favourite alongside DPD is good old Royal Mail special delivery. Maybe DPD just nudges it into second place because of it's precise driver tracking but the thing that Royal Mail has going for it is that it never delivers to the wrong address.

Right. Time to get onto that pre-order page...
