What’s the verdict on the ultra guys???

Depends on the user base. If you do the sports etc then worth it, but if just to say I have the ultra its a waste.

Apple is making it very clear that this isn't aimed towards the average consumer and it's for the rugged/athletes/explorers among us.

The only average consumer feature is the battery life

Well back to square 1 then, another year of my S4 and wait for the S9 or get the S8 (and then be annoyed when sods law has the S9 have huge design changes!) which is what we all thought would happen from S7 to S8 tbh!

I feel the only thing in the watches at all that has differed from the 7 to the 8 is the female cycle, which I don't think I need.

The ultra has no base except for a very specific market.

Good point. Wonder if I might be better just keeping my S4 another year, last year of support presumably, then get the S9. Surely there’s going to bigger changes next year ?

I really want to get a SS over aluminium as the way I look at it, is its a watch. I wear it every day and its also a 'fashion' piece

but then I can never justify the price for something that is out dated in a year compared to say spending the same amount on a REAL watch
