I've finally read the entire thread before making my first post since the launch i think i'll be going for the iphone x i'm sure there will be things that i don't like about it but i'll probably end up buying the 256gb model although i've hardly used 50gb on my 256gb 7plus so if it came to it i could downgraded to the 64gb model.

I've searched amazon and other website for wireless chargers that can charge several at the same time but i'm finding very few that do that so the apple power looks interesting.

I've always gone with o2 but i'm finding the EE max tariff with 100GB really appealing does anyone know if there is a limit on the 100gb that can be used for tethering ? Currently i'm on 20gb with o2 so 100gb is very appealing.
You are aware that it will cost like £80 a month with EE.
Isn't that too expensive?

for the additional data and if i am able to tether then that along with free 6 months of apple music would make it worth it i'm not sure what the breakdown is for the iphone x on apple payment plan but i believe its 56 pounds for the iphone x 64gb ? so thats 30 pounds for 100gb and free apple music for 6 months. that sounds reasonable. not sure what a sim only plan for that amount of data.

I am forunate that work already pays for my galaxy note 8 and i'm loving it although the face recongnition is quite poor so hopefully the x will be much better

am i being silly in thinking that 80 pounds for the iphone x on EE is reasonable ? still got ages to make my final decision.

Any predictions for network prices yet?

I'm hoping to get the 64X for a reasonably hefty upfront cost with a £40/£50 p.m plan.

if by 'hefty' you mean £999 then you should be ok.

Its already £47 on iphone payments, or £56 on IUP and thats without any plan. I'd expect most contracts to be £70 and up.

O2 indicative pricing is £72 & £77 as per their website.
They have said there will be a wider choice of tariffs available come pre order but at the moment thats all they're saying.

I think all the networks are going to try and get as much from the iPhone X as possible and being locked into a 24 month agreement paying upwards of £70 to £100 (maybe less with a much larger deposit)

Networks do yearly upgrades but with RPI increasing every year and it's up to them if they continue offering it you are at their mercy and at least with Apple it's a safer bet in my opinion.

Pricing it up it will potentially cost me more to go the IUP route plus sim only but I will have much more freedom to pick and choose which network I want to be on as well as being able to cancel and move anywhere else if a better or cheaper deal comes along.

How you finding the note 8?
I'm thinking of buying it actually instead of the iPhone 8 plus
Just checked the contract prices and they start at £54 a month...that is expensive!!!

Its a great phone loving the s pen everything just seems to work all phones on contract will be very high the days of low contract prices have come to an end unless you pay a hefty upfront cost the other option is upgrading via apple samsung but again the prices aren't much better if you include insurance.

This is true
Plus with the Samsung upgrade program you always have to get a Samsung device...you can't switch to Apple for example

It looks like I will have to pay £54 a month basically

o2 tracking information has now populated in 'My o2' so it looks like I'm on for a Friday delivery, which is a relief.

Some more press prior to launch? It takes a day for the newspapers to print, and iOS11 is coming out Wednesday. Then iPhone 8 Friday Apple determined when their NDA press embargo stopped I guess.

Edit - anyone know when we get not just the order number and can start tracking a delivery? When it passes from asynchronous to the carrier (UK Mail etc)?

From my inital reading of the reviews i get two impressions from them if you have a 7plus the 8 or 8plus isn't much of an upgrade. If you do want to upgrade then wait for the x. Thats my impression others will disagree and 8/8plus still like decent upgrades just not enough for me thats why i'm waiting for the x.

Yeah i think all reviews will say if you have a 6 or 6s it's worth the upgrade if you have a 7 or 7 plus then you should see no reason to upgrade.

My plan is to order with apple through IUP and order with EE for the x and see how long the times are. If i don't Get one by December or 2018 i will get the note 8 most likely or just keep my 7 plus and wait it out i guess.

One thing that will be interesting if you order through EE I'm guessing they won't charge you monthly until you get the phone..

Well I'll be paying £54 per month on iPhone payments and £20 per month for my SIM only EE contract so it's not a million miles away............. although that will be for 256GB.

O2 indicative pricing is £72 & £77 as per their website.

Their upfront costs are fairly modest at £39.99 and £29.99 respectively. I see it also says there will be 1 free screen replacement which is interesting and I assume at free means no excess.......

  • Special pre-order offer: 100GB for the price of 25GB. £82.99 a month, only £9.99 upfront
  • 15GB for £72.99 a month. £99.99 upfront
  • 15GB for £77.99 a month. £49.99 upfront

I assume however this is for a 64GB X though..............

From what i gather these prices aren't confirmed yet according to EE as they will be selling the 256GB model.

If the EE price is over 90 a month on the 256GB i will just stick with three on sim only and buy the apple IUP which will be cheaper but i would still be paying like £82 a month

for the iphone 8 plus 256gb which is £950 its 77.99 for the above with £29.99 deposit
