How would it feel against a 7 plus... which is cheaper now?

That's how I felt when I bought a 7 plus last year after having a regular 6 and 6s :D

It’s amazing isn’t it? I have no idea what the statistics are but I’d be very surprised if many people return to a smaller screen after the Plus model. :)

It’s also surprising how quickly you adapt to the larger screen. The only downside is squeezing it into your pocket.

Wow big improvement iPhone 6 to 8! Much faster (you get used speed 6 over time and don't realise how slower it is. Not too bad but not fast). I using Tech21 Clear case. Look nice. Really happy with iPhone 8 (even it cost bit more than usual!!).

Glad pretty much everyone seems to be enjoying their 8/8+ so far.

My initial thoughts after 24 hours.

Pros: The A11 chip is leaps and bounds above the A10 Fusion chip, the glass back feels much nicer than the aluminium of the 6 Plus>7 Plus, despite being the same screen as my outgoing 7 Plus it's much brighter (True Tone seems to suit iPhone better than iPad?), the iSight camera produces much better results and the stereo speakers are much louder.

Cons: The stage light effect in Portrait Mode (appreciate it's in Beta) produces some poor results and feels more like a gimmick at present, iOS 11 feels like it needs a .1 update in the next couple of weeks to refine performance, screen is the same as 6 Plus>7 Plus in terms of HD and PPI (was hoping Apple might've encroached on QHD/a higher density display).
 
Just got my Spiegen ultra hybrid case from Amazon, I like the case except for on the back it leaves like a watermark (don’t know how to describe it) where the clear plastic from the case and the glass of the iPhone touch. It will do until my Apple case arrives though.

So is it worth upgrading a 7 Plus?
 
Great to see folk are enjoying their new 8/8+. :)

Personally, I decided it just wasn’t worth upgrading my current 7, but can’t deny it’s left me feeling more than a bit bummed out that I’ve no nice new phone to enjoy this year. :(

Like a few others on here, I’ve been contemplating seeing if I could pick up a reasonably priced 7+, and then just saving up for whatever next year brings.
 
First impressions are good. I got mine yesterday. 8+ in SG. The glass back and the space grey colour is fantastic and looks and feels super premium. Feels like the best looking iPhone since the 5 in my opinion.

LIke others, so far so good, the 8+ is a nice upgrade from my 6. I’d kind of expected the increase in performance after upgrading my ipad earlier this year. There’s enough new features in here to feel like it’s a proper upgrade and I’ve not noticed the increase in weight, but it’s very early days yet. Bowing out of this thread now - good luck for all of you going for the X...

Really hope stores get stock soon. I always like to go and pick one up so I can decide which colour I want in person.

Edit - hue checked the London ones again and they’re showing available

I have a 7 at the moment and have bought my case and wireless charging stand in anticipation of snagging an X at pre-order...if I hadn't done this I'm pretty sure I'd have bought an 8+ (and later regretted it) as the extra wait for the X is so painful!

Space Grey would be horrible for me, my hands are very prone to be being greasy.

My screen always gets littered with visible fingerprints.
Even the back of Matte Black 7 is just greasy fingerprint heaven.

May have to Silver If I did get the X.

Although wish they did Matte Black :(

Thanks, will check it out now. I'm after the 64gb 8 in either silver or gold. And the Liverpool or Manchester stores. Do you have to be on the IUP to check those? It just says store pick up isn't available for me.

That’s the same phone I’ve got at the moment and I only pay £49 on the upgrade programme and that includes AppleCare plus.

You can elect to join IUP and Apple will allow you to reserve. Just checked Liverpool & Manchester and the ones you want are there to reserve. just need to take driving ID or passport etc with bank details with you
