I just spoke with Apple (a guy called Phil answered Phone)...... he told me the X doesn’t actually exist and is a massive wind up on Samsung. Anyone who tries to order will instead receive a refurbished iPhone 5C (in green) for their £999........ unless your name begins with an X and it is your birthday on Friday..... in which case they will send you one of the dummy prototypes they fooled everyone with.

Guess everyone can calm down then now.

Anyone receiving advise on stock from someone you have easily got through to on the phone will know less than we do on this thread.

No customer service rep, dodgy guy in the Three store, or the person answering the phones at Apple are going to be told anything about the X that is not already public knowledge.

It’s just to get you confident even CPW promising launch day stock if you pay £25...who knows what stock levels will be from Apple or carriers.

Just hope for the best. If you have To wait longer? You aren’t doing anything different to what you are now.

Anyone else like me who, when the X was announced, thought “nah, too much/not this year”. Yet here I am, a day and a half away all ready to buy!
Yep , same! I still have concerns about Face ID and the narrower screen but at least I can return it!

Just checked into my hotel for the next couple of days. Testing my data connections ahead of Friday morning. Wi-fi connection average. No 4g coverage and 3G coverage a measly 2Mbps. Time to come up with a new plan

A few people have been saying things along this line... bandwidth doesn't matter, it's ping speed and the reliability/stability of the connection that matters. 2Mbps is fine.

CPW took off the sim free price from the Iphone X page.

Ah, have they now? Very interesting. I’ve got a screenshot with it visible date stamped after I paid my deposit - not that I imagine it’ll matter either way. I feel more confident about getting one on release day through Apple than CPW.

Thanks, got a ping speed of 10ms which I understand is considered very good
Very!

[Edit before someone interjects: Obviously in the scheme of human response times a ping of 10ms vs 80ms is irrelevant - your fingers are far slower. But you can get some terrible hotel connections that have erratic pings, or pings of several hundred milliseconds, which might make a difference.]

Yeah, its gone. So the only way to get it is to buy it on contract from them. I think they did this so they can make more people sign up for the £25 deposit scheme.

The deposit scheme is for contract only. I feel like they are swaying people towards contract as they probably make a higher mark up.

Virgin media has some ok prices - just got an email from them. 40GB over 36 months for £46 per month. Works out at around £18 per month for the plan after paying off the phone. Total £1600 over 3 years

Yeah, most people wont be going for this scheme anyway, the monthly prices are pretty insane and most people do not pay such prices, but units of X available will also be low, so I guess it doesn't matter.

They might make SIM free available after Nov 3rd, after they get the stock and check if there's anyone who's not going ahead with the deposit scheme. But even then, they might just make it contract only.

I admit I will definitely be tempted to just **** it and buy it on contract :p But let's see, all depends on the delivery date I get from Apple. If it's beyond December 20th then I am going contract way.
