Ok, so the iPhone 3G is available for $99 in the states. Over here it's still available for the *bargain* price of £340. WTF Apple?

ANyone got any ideas if this pricing will apply to the UK as well as America? I'd totally buy one if it was $99, that about £60. Insane pricing variation once again. 😕

The $99 price is still with a pay monthly contract, as far as i'm aware...also, i believe that the iphone 3G 8GB was always £342 after the VAT reduction...it could be that it hasn't been updated yet.

I would assume the $99 is as part of a contract - the £340 you are looking at is PAYG.

I would expect O2 to offer the 3G at £50/60 with 18month contract. It is currently £99.

Yes, he's comparing a UK PAYG price with a US contract price. The iPhone is available from O2 for £97 on their cheapest contract.

My bad, I assumed (foolishly) that the $99 price was PAYG, however in hindsight now I've calmed down, that's just silly. Still, would be nice for a reduction on pay monthly here. 🙂

The $99 3G is that that a 8GB handset or a 16GB? Would be nice if they just did away with the 8GB size.
