Each year the hours leading up to iPhone pre-order going live on apple.com is a really fun time to come to the MacRumors forums and share everybody's experiences. Each year without fail the forums come grinding to a halt at approximately 07:55am

Not to take away from the MacRumors experience but I have setup a telegram group for any fellow UK pre-order fanatics. https://t.me/joinchat/AxL8jELqOwXaNxAGCwB8Sw

cheers.

I really want to get one on day one - I hope pre-ordering on the dot when they open will be enough to secure a launch day delivery. :(

Traditionally the UK ordering thread has, I believe, been the biggest one on Macrumors every year. We need to continue this proud achievement and not allow some Johnny-come-lately chat thing to undermine our annual thread. Stay strong folks!

I want one day one - is the only way to pre order on apples website? I'd prefer to order on Vodafone as part of a monthly plan or something

Sold my 7+ the other day in prep for the edition or whatever it's gonna be called to come out.

Hopefully it's not as much of a pain in backside to get a hold of one on launch day but I am not holding my breath after the jet black 7+ thing last year. Was absolutely ridiculous.

This will be the first time I'll be in the States when the iPhone comes out. Not sure how this will impact my preorder as I'll be in the UK when that probably happens but in the States to pick it in store in Miami

depends what time it's available to pre order

for the 7 pre-order was ready at 7am/8am which was when carriers also took pre-orders i believe.

Really hoping the iUP is less of a s**t show here in the UK, this year. My girlfriend's on it and I seem to recall all in-store reservations had gone before most people even found the correct section of the website for iUP customers. Not to mention that in-store stock should be reserved for iUP customers as a priority in the first place. Apple swore they'd improve the system for 'next year' so hopefully we get more info on that soon.

I'm on the iPhone Upgrade Program too this year so I don't know how it all works. Hoping for a smooth upgrade and to be able to get the new iPhone that I want at launch!

People still use that app?!

Telegram? :) My work, family, friends, found out about it last year and it's all we use after Hangouts. It's one of the few left that has a desktop, iOS, Mac OS, Windows, Chrome client. Can't stand the mobile only chats.

WhatsApp is now available on every platform.

Any sign of ‘the’ one thread to rule them all being started?

Doesn't it require my phone be on the same WiFi network as the computer I'm using it on? To be honest, haven't been on WhatsApp for a few years now.

Not on the desktop clients I think. As long as your phone & the computer is connected to the internet it works I think. Although I'll be honest, I haven't checked that specifically in the recent times.

I'm also on the upgrade program so some additional information from Apple would be most appreciated.

I've seen people say that there shouldn't be any priority for those on the program, but then what's the point of being on the program if it's a case of pot luck if/or when you get the phone you want?

The benefit is that you don't need to pay for the phone upfront and you get to enjoy a new phone every year without having paid the full amount for the previous phone.

But if demand for the 8/Edition (or whatever it will be called) will be high (which we all know it will be) and they run out of stock for day one, I'll be continuing to pay for the old phone, when the point of the program is to upgrade the phone after a year, not 13/14 months.

I'm about to list my iPhone 7 Plus later on this evening. I've dug out my trusty iPhone 5 to use for a couple of weeks.

Just locked in my trade-in value with Envirofone. The ‘EXTRA5’ promo code remains active for a 5% increase in trade-in value. Not sure whether I trust these guys after a revised offer a couple of years ago with my 6 Plus. Worth a shot though, with a 14 day price guarantee and option to extend by a further 7 days traditionally
