UK iPhone - Reservations

I went into my local O2 store today (small town in Cheshire).

I was able to reserve an iPhone and was assured they would hold it for me - can't get there until 7pm on launch night.

Lets hope they stick to their word!!

I personally wouldn't rely on it - o2 retail are similar to Dixons, Currys etc in as much as they are poorly trained and will basically do anything for a sale. By telling you they'll keep one, they know you'll go there to buy yours - so if they don't sell out, it's at least one extra sale they wouldn't otherwise have (if that makes sense?).

I phoned my local O2 store (High Wycombe), and they said that they were not reserving any phones. It would be a first come first served basis on the 9th.

Mine said they had reached there allocation.

So I think il be going to an apple store on launch night.

Having worked in an o2 store I find that a bit of a generalisation - the store I worked in was great, everyone was very well trained and honest with customers.

We were never really supposed to reserve phones full stop, but at my store we used to keep them for a few hours if people were popping down - no longer than that though.

Stores have been told not to reserve iPhones for people - although your mileage is clearly going to differ with managers at different stores maybe diverting from the rules slightly.

From what I've heard about stock allocation though you'll be fine with going to an o2 store on the day.
