I signed up to the iPhone Upgrade Programme when I got my 7+ last year.

I'm not really clear on what happens when the new model is released? Do we even know the procedure yet?

I'm hoping that someone with experience of the US programme can explain the logistics of what's meant to happen.

Same boat, have a feeling its still instore only, e.g. you have to preorder online and go in store and set it up. If i remember rightly the pre order was on a different link/location for upgrade than a standard purchase

Yep, it was a special link last time that we were all checking daily for stock.

Just no idea what happens now and wanted to be prepared in advance.

According to chap in Apple Store.... You have to have had your phone for at least 6 months and have paid at least 11 payments. Reserve in-store, go in-store, hand your old phone back, take out a new finance deal with Barclays, pay the up-front cost.... done.

I’m not 100% sure if you can reserve in-store on pre-order day tho.

I make one payment a month. How does that math work???

Can I make an 11th payment early if needed to secure my upgrade eligibility?

do you get anything for handing your old phone back in to them?

Yes, not having to pay the remaining payments on your finance deal.

If you’ve had your phone for only 6 months I assume you’d have to pay 5 payments in advance to meet the 11 month payment criteria.

I'm hoping to upgrade to the X on day one. The further you get past month 11, the less benefit you'll get from just handing your old device back to Apple.

If I can't get an upgrade before payment 13, then I'll pay the finance off and sell it privately when I get hold of an X.

I'm in the same boat, I'm hoping for the X model too

I guess the monthly amounts will go up for iPhone X v 7

I pay £45pcm for 128 iPhone 7+. I wonder how much more the iPhone X will be as assuming the direct upgrade is an iPhone 8+ 128.

Same as you haha, I pay exactly the same, and want the same upgrade :p I don't worry too much about cost, since I'm only paying for half of the phones cost (with AppleCare)

Now a slightly revised question.

If I don't do the upgrade and keep my 7+. Do I just pay it off over the next year? Then what happens. I assume I own the phone but then do I need to re-enroll in the IUP next year?

Correct

Cheers

I might be the only person considering the 8+ :p

It's about the same per month as I'm paying now for my 7+ so think it probably makes sense to upgrade. The X just looks too expensive with too many issues to bother with this year.

Im on the same IUP for the 7+ but now the X won't be released till Nov i don't fancy having to give it back. Probably pay off the remaining months and start again. That way when the next version comes out next year you will either be under the upgrade duration or just in time
