UK iPhones contract free are unlocked?

Engadget says so, and you can kind of infer that on Apple's website. Is this true?

So is it possible to buy one from the UK, have it shipped to the US and use the phone with AT&T without bothering with the contract and unlocking & jailbreaking the phone?

Yes, the phones in the UK are factory unlocked now. If you know someone in the UK willing to ship it out to you, you'll be able to get one. 🙂

But do they now come with worldwide warranty, or is it country specific still?

If someone from the US gets one from the UK, won't they have issues if they need to use the warranty?

Almost certainly still country specific. Other countries that sold iPhones factory unlocked last time round were still country specific. 🙁

I was thinking the same thing but it will cost $733 USD just for the phone itself.
