Well that was an easy 1400 quid spent. Basic Pro for me.
I was going to up to 1TB but not anywhere near that on my current M1 Pro Ultra MPB.

Just ordered the M4 with one terabyte storage using a student discount.

I’ve been meaning to upgrade my Intel based Mac mini as it’s painfully slow when running multiple edits in lightroom.

I can now repurpose the Intel Mac mini as a Linux based home server and run Windows 10 using virtualbox.

possibly order a M4 Pro 48gb Ram not sure 512gb SSD or 1TB SSD,

anyone know if there are advantages performance wise getting 1TB SSD over the 512GB SSD ?

The only real advantage is double the TBW. Performance wise you won’t notice a thing under 99% of use cases.

So it's preorder right now. But when is the first day I can go to Apple Store or Best Buy and buy in person?

And its too new for a sale. But what are the chances there will be some black Friday deal?

Ordered: M4 Pro 14 core / 48Gb / 1Tb - £2,199

Code:
Hardware:
Accessory Kit
Apple M4 Pro chip with 14‑core CPU, 20‑core GPU, 16-core Neural Engine
Gigabit Ethernet
Three Thunderbolt 5 ports, HDMI port, two USB‑C ports, headphone jack
1TB SSD storage
48GB unified memory

This might be an expensive paperweight for a while.

I don't even have a monitor to go with this. I got to figure that out.

I've been holding out for a 5k display thats >60hz... ideally one that I can game on, mini-led I guess for productivity bias. I don't think one even exists yet! If it does, let me know. 👍

Just found out Totum offer the same discount as Unidays and it seems they allow NHS Workers on that, the NHS Trust I work at wasn't listed but it let me submit a ticket so they can review and add it on

Certainly worth trying anyway to save £100 :)

I’ve been using a LG
34WL750 34" UltraWide™ QHD (3440 x 1440) IPS Monitor, works well for my workflow in Lightroom Classic, Photoshop and Fusion 360. Colours seem accurate. Has 2 hdmi and 1 display Port.

Great I will check it out on the 8th. I stopped apple store by today and they had nothing on display. They were not sure about any sales either. But its too soon probably. Although Black Firday is coming. So might be some deal then.

But anyhow he said in store tradeins are done. Last time I had to mail it in. Eventhough I was at the store. But not sure how it works and he was not either.

Do you trade in the old mini and then deduct from the total. Or buy first and the minus tradein.

Like new mini basic is 599. So almost 600. Apple webiste says min m1 mini with 8gb ram and 256ssd is worth 230 dollars.

So is it 600-230=370 dollars plus tax which is 407.

Or 600 + 10% tax so 660 total and then minus 230 which is 430.

Do you trade in the old mini first and use that to buy the new one. Or but fist and trade in later.

How was it for anyone who has done tradein with Apple in the past.

I traded in my m2 mini earlier this year & very easy. Pop into shop, they check device & give u quote, if u agree u get amount off whatever u buy or amount goes to gift card to use on whatever whenever

The only place you might find some money off is through Amazon, but it won’t be much.

I work for a solution provider and I personally consult with a number of NHS trusts. I have a Trust email addresses. What do I need to provide to Totum to pass the review?

For EDU it's a flat £100 discount so the % will depend on which one you get.
The base - £599 to £499 is 16% discount
The pro - £1399 to £1299 is 7% discount

Plus you get a (small) discount off AC+ (prepaid only, not annual) £89 rather than £99. I think this will only apply to EDU and not NHS, Blue Light Card etc.
