I think that's the problem with everything - there are plenty of people who are quite satisfied, but when asking for advice you need only that one person who had terrible service and it makes you doubt.

Thanks to all for your advice... I'm still not entirely sold either way, and that's good. I'm still going to talk to family/friends, as well as going into the high street stores as well. we'll see what happens :)

my o2 contract was up in June, go I decided to go for a SIM only, 30 day contract with T-Mobile(£7.50 a month for 50 minutes). I stuck the SIM in my SE K800i that I got from 02 and for the first time in a year used it properly since I also went for unlimited handset and laptop use for £12.50.
o2 charged by the megabyte before so I was always put off using it. The few times I had meant an extra fiver or so for a few minutes use, an ebay page or 2 takes a MB at times to download, so internet with o2 felt like daylight robbery (I hope this changes if o2 get the iPhone in the UK).
Now I have my K800 checking my POP mail, reading RSS feeds and i go online whenever I feel like it, without worrying about the cost. I also installed google maps which runs surprisingly well on the K800. All this and I can use 3G speeds with my PB just by selecting the K800's bluetooth PAN.
