There is a message when you call iPhone customer support to say there is an issue with GPRS access. Currently on the phone to billing to ask for a refund of the service. Probably will get sweet fa off them.

It's out here in Gillingham, UK too.

I'm sure O2's Twitter page is buzzing with people complaining :D

Okay for me here in Glasgow.

Could this be related to the "Carrier Update" I installed last night after being alerted by iTunes that an update was available? My carrier version is now 4.4 as seen in the Settings, General, About screen. I believe this can update things like the APN for data connections.

Hope you get it fixed soon,
Craig.

Just to let everyone know o2 are currently working on a fix!

I am on an O2 Simplicity plan so I have no reason to stay with O2 (especially as I have 2 bars GPRS at my house and vodafone has full 3G!). I am planning on moving house shortly and as long as Vodafone or Orange has good reception I am now planning on changing. I have just emailed O2 again:

Hi,

Does O2 have any plan to explain why we have had 4 network outages in 3 weeks? Unless there is a plan to issue a £10 goodwill credit every month I am struggling to see a reason to stay with O2? Are them some major issues with the network that customers should know about?

Regards,

mine seems to be back again for the moment. emails coming to my phone. full 3g signal (has been all day). web seems slow though.

O2 are a joke. Totally ruining the iPhone! Their 3G coverage is poor, too many outages. In fact they have the poorest 3G signal in the UK! How is this good for the iPhone?!

or for the uk market in general. they are getting all the exclusivity deals, like the pre, the samsung galaxy etc etc. they already have little reason to do anything about their issues, because they have people cornered... "come with us or no iphone/pre/galaxy etc", if it continues they'll be able to get away with even worse tariffs and prices, as well as even less reason to do anything about their coverage. i really hope apple change provider, or rather add another provider. we need competition.
