Following the announcement of a UK realise on Nov 9th, I am seriously considering taking the plunge. However, I have a few questions ...

1./ I travel a lot in Europe, is there a way to switch off the EDGE and just use WiFi when available? (to avoid silly bills)

2./ There is no doubt Apple will come up with a lager capacity improved iPhone within the next 20 months. As an 02 customer on an 18 month contract, will I be able to purchase the new model and continue with the current contract?

3./ will one be able to add 02 services (like cheaper calls from Europe) to the iPhone package?

I have asked these question several times to both Apple & O2 but both have been unable to give definite answers, with O2 saying on 3 different occasions that the UK iPhone will be a sealed unit with no access to the sim card ???

Looking forward to some feedback.

TIA

All I know is that in the newest firmware (which UK models will ship with), there is a setting to disable automatic EDGE usage.

Yes to all three in theory - if things go the same way as in the states. Personally I wouldn't try calling O2 until the end of October, as the staff won't have been trained on the iPhone and the tariffs.
