O2 really can't be beaten. Their customer services are incredible. They pick up straight away, they're responsive, and when I complain, they always offer me a credit on my account for the trouble caused ;)

Network coverage seems brilliant - even when my T-Mobile friends lose signal. And unlike T-Mobile FlexT, they included minutes are actual minutes, not virtual credit (which means you lose 5p every time a call goes to voicemail and you hang up).

They are by far my favourite company, alongside Apple.
 
Personally my experience with O2 has been great. No problems.

However my partner is also with O2… but via Carphone Warehouse… and that has just been endless problems.

I'd still say go direct to O2 and cut out CPW…
 
Basically o2 is great right until the point you want to speak to someone from o2, whether it's on the phone or instore..

obviously there are exceptions, but more often than not the customer service is poor!
 
I've had an iPhone since 6:02 and it has been great, apart from EDGE.
Agreed, o2 have been fine for me, i have never really had a problem with their network to be honest other than maintenance and such, but they usually do this about 10pm onwards. you can try the site provided by o2 for the masts information or try this one.
http://www.sitefinder.ofcom.org.uk/ then click "find GB site" and search and it should bring up all the mast locations in your area.
Other than that o2 have generally been good for 3g coverage, one reason i didnt like o2 was the edge coverage. but with the 3g iphone should be a problem
 
I was with O2 with my K800i and they were pretty good. Good signal, good 3G coverage. My only concern is that their coverage map online shows no HSDPA coverage in Glasgow. My friend who works in their broadband support call centre checked it out for me and said that while HSDPA is there it's patchy in Glasgow.

I'm moving to O2 Broadband soon which seems to be the best in UK. Hopefully this is the beginning of a good relationship :D
 
After moving from Orange - and their 30-40 min telephone support waiting times - I am always surprised to get through to an o2 support rep almost immediately... I mean, really, I am always shocked when they answer. And I don't miss Orange's hold music either!

Their email support is hit and miss. If they don't understand your query, or don't want to understand it, they just give you a generic template response and hope you'll give up. I just phone them, it's often easier.

So yeah, I don't know if the phone support joy will cease now that there isn't a dedicated "press 1 for iPhone" line (I think there isn't anywho), but good so far.

Nothing much else to commend or compain about. Reception sucks but I'm pretty sure that's the iPhone v1 for you (other o2 phones perfect in my house)... Oh, I forgot: I'm sure I've sent 'STOP' to their text marketing a few times now, and it carries on regardless! but no biggie.

All round: good experience so far. I'll definitely be upgrading to 3G and happily signing up to another 18 months. (great value pricing for next gen handset and service plans too, in my opinion).
 
I have been with O2 since they were Genie, and I wouldn't use anyone else. Excellent coverage, particularly throughout the South of England, it seems. My friends who are on other networks always seem to be going on about "no signal", even in the middle of major cities, but I never have a problem! EDGE coverage is ropey (it would be - it was only an iPhone afterthought), but 3G on my old K800i was always excellent, they really seemed to have invested in 3G in a big way.

I also get Be Broadband (now an O2 company). It's excellent, and I can't recommend it enough. I get 22Mbps downstream and absolutely no data caps or traffic shaping.

LLU stands for Local Loop Unbundling, by the way. It just means that ISPs put their own (superior) equipment directly in the exchange and they purchase dedicated backhaul (onwards connectivity). If you are with a good ISP like Be/O2, this translates into faster connections (restricted only by technical limitations and not some BT cap) and less restrictive data caps.
