UK ringtones ?

I'm almost sure that I read somewhere that this is not yet possible on U.K. iPhones but I don't know why as we have the same firmware as the U.S. and have access to the same release of iTunes.
You do have the latest release of iTunes don't you (the one released just before the U.K. iPhone)?

They're not available in the UK as of yet, although I believe apple are working on it.
In the mean time, if you have the latest firmware, and latest version of iTunes you can create your own!
Just drag a song from iTunes to say the desktop.
Edit it in Garageband (or similar)
Convert to aac
Rename the .m4a file to .m4r
Drag back over to iTunes
et voila! It'll show up in your ringtones tab available to sync to your iPhone!

Great tip! Works so simply. I now have an ordinary telephone sound for my iPhone! Excellent.
I'm not being a cheapskate, but I am using it on the trial basis at the moment. What happens to your ringtones when that period expires? Surely they can't disappear if you don't synch ringtones, right?
