I've been watching the new series of Spooks. Has anyone else noticed just how often Apple's devices are used?

From remotes, to iMacs, phones, keyboards, magic mouse... pretty much everything.

A lot of the time it also unnecessary pans the apple logo into the picture.

I didn't think the BBC allowed so called product placement? Or are the people behind Spooks just trying to be 'in-the-game' ;)

Yeah I've noticed this, been watching Spooks since about 2005 and been a trend throughout.

I've been very much into the series since it first aired and they have always used Apple products. Love the show, probably the best thing I've ever seen on TV. But damn I hate those interfaces designed in Flash  and the bleep and bloop sound effects.

Yeah makes me laugh. I do think they've gotten more chronic apple-wise with the latest series though.

    NO! :D

Speaking of shows, I love the Apple-parody "Pear" phones and laptops in iCarly.

Slightly surprised that Apple hasn't tried to shut them down for having that glowing pear on the back of the laptop lid :)

They also have a pear shaped "PearPhone", "PearPods", "PearTunes" and a "PearPad" that's an iPad only four times the size !

Apparently only good guys have Pear products in the show. Evil characters do not.

    Complete list here.

It's not product placement - product placement is when the maker of the product provides a financial or other incentive to the maker of the programme in return for the product appearing on screen.

However, the BBC has its own editorial guidelines which state that no company, brand or product can be given "undue prominence" in its output. This is especially important in pre-recorded shows like Spooks, where there is plenty time to give consideration to what is appearing on screen.

In my opinion the BBC breaches this repeatedly with constant mentions of Twitter and Facebook (do they really need to say "xxx tweeted" instead of just saying they sent them a message, for example?)
