I bought a 17 Pro outright (pre-order) from the Apple Store in central London last week and now I want to transfer it to the upgrade program. When I went to the store yesterday, they said I’ll have to return my current phone and get a new one, but there’s no possibility to reserve it online and they didn’t have any stock either.

Basically what they said is that I have to try my luck and hope they have something in stock when I come to the store? That’s quite annoying! I can’t even purchase one online for pickup and immediately have it transferred.

Was I given the right information or is there actually a way to transfer the purchase? Given the phone is in high demand, even if I manage to find one to pick up I can’t transfer it which means I’ll have to wait quite a long time for them to have enough walk-in stock and then buy it. How am I ever supposed to join the program with a new iPhone if I have to wait so long???
