I know there are many thread on this topic but I haven't found the best solution yet. I have heard of thermal pasting, cooling pads, side vacuums, etc...

I have no problem with my MacBook being hot... but recently I started gaming on Windows with Bootcamp and my CPU sometimes throttles to 0.80Ghz and it has a huge impact on the fps...

I have heard some people running their MacBooks at 5.0Ghz all the time while gaming on windows but I don't know how they do that... I need to know the ultimate cooling solution... Currently have this: https://www.amazon.com.mx/OImaster-...ild=1&keywords=olmaster&qid=1609367189&sr=8-9

But it literally doesn't do anything... It's just there looking pretty...

Is there any genius out there that knows the best way to keep my CPU as cool 😎 as possible?

Thank you

I bought a 165 CFM AC-powered dual-case-fan setup. It's somewhat noisy. The laptop was in clamshell and I aimed the fans at the bottom case. Reduced temps by about ten degrees. In the end, I built a Windows desktop using a case known for good cooling and an aftermarket cooler that looks like an aluminum brick with two attached fans. It typically runs between 22 and 39 degrees at load and the system is very quiet.

The macOS solution: get an M1X system when they come out.

Alright, I am trying to avoid a PC Build since I already invested in an eGPU enclosure (Razer Chroma X) But If I can't find a good ventilation solution I might have to jump into the PC world...

Check this out... some people are drilling holes underneath their MacBooks and apparently is an effective solution. I might end up trying I am just a little afraid of killing my machine.

This is what I bought. You may need something to blow air into it. It's still going to be noisy.

Where do you place them exactly? Wouldn't it be better to just buy a cooling pad with fans?

How much does it improve your temperature in Celsius?

The MBP is in vertical clamshell mode. The fan is next to the stand blowing air onto the bottom case.

Cooling pads are USB powered so the airflow is limited. These fans are AC (Wall) powered and can put out far more air flow.

Here's a much cooler solution:

I’ve done this a while back.

3.6 Ghz turbo sustained during cinebench r15

Now I later removed the second heatpipe due to to clearance concerns. But the vapor chamber still remains.

the vapor chamber part I used was from Surfacebook in case one is interested to mod theirs.

it works well enough for me to consider making the vapor chamber permanent with thermal epoxy and mod it further. Right now I plan to add a dedicated heatpipe from GPU to the right fan in order to be able to overclock the GPU.

One thing I learned is that on my model (15” 2015 M370x) you can stop the GPU throttling by adding thermal pad to GPU’s VRM

Ultimate solution for gaming is disable intel turboboost. In bootcamp windows is easy and in osx you need 3rd party aplication. I have as well egpu and with combination of turbo boost off i have gaming temps in windows around 65-70 with fan at 2700rpm

Yeah that is a good solution but I wish there was way to get the full juice out of your CPU... for that you need low temperatures.

GPU matters most but CPU matters too... But I am only looking for 60 fps since my monitor is 60hz... I will have to experiment.

If you do my vapor chamber mod (above) you could leave turbo on for egpu usage, or with internal dgpu for that matter.

Tho I think that eGPU would not be ideal if are using thunderbolt 2 or older, especially so if you don’t use external screen connected to the egpu directly.

i can only do 60fps on overwatch with egpu and internal screen at 1080p, with fps dipping below once in a while.
