Does anyone use their Ultra 3 on Low power mode, any downsides to it?

So charged mine to 100% at 6pm Thursday for the first time. It’s now pretty much noon on Saturday and I have 41% left. I’m a creature of habit so want to charge at 6pm every two days and it’s looking like that will be comfortable. AOD is off as I don’t see why I’d want my watch on if I’m not looking at it. Everything else is as it was out of the box.

I have run it on my AWU3 for a night and a day. Here's what I saw:

Significant decrease in background heart rate monitoring.
No Blood Oxygen measurements.
Workouts had to manually be started - no more "Hey, looks like you're doing a workout" popup.
Complications would update as I woke up the watch - rise to wake (it was almost immediate so this isn't a negative imo).
Sleep data was significantly reduced. (Reminded me of earlier Watch OS days).

BUT I burned LESS than half the battery I normally did. So I think I could get 5+ days (on my usage) if I did this.

I love the data so it's off. Also, I'm part of an Apple Health study so I noticed it might affect that. Otherwise I probably wouldn't mind running it more often. But if I'm ever on a work trip and I forget my charge cable - I could make that last forever with that option - so it's nice knowing it is there.

Thanks for sharing your findings. I will try it after I finish a few tests with my current settings

What is everyone’s consensus on battery charging limits. Is 80% the best for the Ultra 3, or it doesn’t matter to charge to 100% ?

I get it if you’re away for a 2-3 days and can’t charge your watch so will charge to 100% to get the longest duration. But what if you’re at home and can charge charge anytime, what’s your go to limit? Please share

I charge all my devices, AW, iPhone, iPad etc, to 100%. These are tools for me and the battery is a consumable. I happen to have AC+ on my U2, 17PM and iPad...
Battery obsession is not something I subscribe to but I do realize that many do, so do as you see fit for your own tools.

My U2 gets on the charger every other night (after about 38hrs of continuous wearing it) and gets charged overnight to 100%.
My iPhone goes on the charger on my nightstand every night, my 13PM used to be around 50% and my 17PM is like around 65%.

There was this front page story just recently, not sure that there is any "conclusion" about charge limit or not:

Just went on my first good 2 mile run (as an overweight old guy) - and went from 79% battery life to 73%. (27 mins). So exercise definitely seems to take more of a hit with this latest iOS/Watch OS. But the data is beautiful so I am not sad or upset about this at all.

Also noticed that my AWU3 had a much easier time getting my heart rate than my AWU2 did.

With always on off, I can have an hour of GPS run a day and after 48 hours still have 25% left on the battery. I have LTE on and use it while running, so it burns a bit

what would it be like with AOD on?
and, what if LTE is off? And I understand you might not want to run that test

Let's make the first of two tests then - AOD is now turned on. I put the watch back on before going to bed last night with 100% (AOD is always turning off automatically at night anyway) and I'm at 93% at almost 11AM here.

Have turned it on and my estimate would be that I could still go the 48 hours, but not have 25% left - but let's see.

LTE will stay on for now and might make the opposite test afterwards, just to see what impact the LTE has and AOD has seprately.

Yesterday was a longer run than usual and a 1,5 hour sauna session afterwards - so might be a bit tougher on the battery - on the other hand I'm 9 hours from my 48-hour limit and the battery is already down to 27% and I haven't been on my run today. So AOD has a pretty big impact - and to be honest not something I really find that usefull. Will see if I can get to tonight, but seems like a stretch already
