(posted on another thread, but maybe this will be helpful for other tech savvy seniors)
I've ordered the Ultra. Not for fashion. Not for the dive computer, even though it's very cool. I'm a senior grandma and doubt I'll be diving soon. Nor will I be doing extreme hiking or marathons. I do have a 165mm wrist, so I think the size won't be a problem for me.
So why the Ultra?
I have been getting a new aw every year since series 0. Had a regular 8 ordered and changed my mind and ordered the Ultra.
It has 2 speakers and tech support said the volume is 40% louder because of that. My hearing isn't that great, so the extra volume, especially on calls, will be welcome.
The screen is only slightly larger, but it is brighter, so that should help my (gasp!) elderly eyes.
I hate to admit it, but I'm a bit clumsier these days. The rugged case will help protect the watch with occasional inadvertent bashing.
Of course the longer battery life is a real plus for anyone.
The alarm could prove helpful to me. I don't anticipate getting lost in the wilderness, even though I do live next to one. My neighbors are close by, as the lots are narrow due to the limited area on the mountain ridge top. If I get into trouble, I should be able to call them if I get into trouble. Plus I'll be training my dog to come to that signal, which he should hear at even a greater distance than people can. I sure can't chase after him anymore!
I propose changing the name to Apple Watch 8 Senior Version. 🤣🤣
