Loving the new ultra, but I’m amazed at how reflective the sapphire screen is…maybe it’s just because it’s flat but I really notice it. not a big fan of the alpine loop, I really want a trail loop.

Hahaha. I see your point but if you want reflective Sapphire try Fénix 7 or Enduro 2. You will see what the mirror is but I would still choose Sapphire over anything as I hate scratches. I even put glass screen protector on top of Sapphire for extra protection. I know it is probably not necessary but still.

Sapphire is reflective on the SS models too. Very much so.
I had heard that and always wondered how it really looked. It doesn’t deter me from liking it but it’s very noticeable. i assume I’ll get used to it.

I love the alpine loop when it’s on, but not a fan of how long it takes to put on. I’m definitely getting another band for everyday use.

Sapphire is always more reflective than coated glass, but I didn't notice any real issues in full sunlight with the flat screen of the Ultra. In fact, with the boosted screen brightness, the Ultra is MUCH easier to use in full sunlight.

It’s not bad…just distracting. But I’ve only had it for 12 hours. I’ll get used to it.

How is it with the always-on display? i.e., when the wrist is not raised, and you just glance down? Does the reflection make the AOD too hard to see, when outside?
I frequently use AOD outside and am not able to raise my wrist, such as when biking downhill and I do not want to let go of a brake lever.

I’ll have to get back to you on that. I’m coming from a 4 so I have to get used to the always on also.

OK, if you have not used AOD before on a non-sapphire face, you may not have a good point of reference to compare with. It is pretty hard to see outside anyway, although it improved slightly on S6 and S7.

Judge for yourself. Full sun at 7300 feet altitude- watch set to 2/3rds brightness. AOD vs active display.
