Got notification from FedX that my box with my Ultra was damaged in shipping. As it was sent via FedX Ground, it was likely stolen and not just damaged. FedX ground is run by thieves. What will happen next?
I dropped off my phone at UPS yesterday for Trade in and they gave me a receipt showing package number date and time I dropped off but under weight it stated N/A. That is a bit worry some. That would not give me much legal grounds. Both my Apple Watch Ultra and iPhone 14 Pro trade-ins were delivered to different locations with nothing in the box, although I obviously packed and shipped them according to the instructions.
Luckily I had the FedEx tracking info and could show that the package weight was .6 and .8 lbs for each of them. This avoided losing all of the money.
Stolen by FedEx employees.
If I did not trust the carrier, then I'd send it using my dime. What scares me is FedEx is sending me another box for my iPhone 14 ProMax. I do not wish the same to happen to it. They need to stop using FedEx ground as the employees are not very reputable. The last thing I had delivered by FedEx ground, the driver left it out by the street and said my gate was locked. I have no gate! I am still betting my Ultra was stolen by a FedEx employee.
I would gladly pay UPS to deliver except the FedEx tracking identifies the trade in.

Just go to a UPS counter and pay for the return shipping.
Simple & solved.
Easy, put the return label inside the box.‘I would, except the FedEx label identifies the trade-in information.
Do not send with any other carrier. As long as you follow Apple's instructions and use the carrier they selected and the prepaid label they are responsible for dealing with any issues with the package/delivery. It doesn't matter that fedex is unreliable for you, it's Apple's choice. Otherwise it's on you to make sure it gets delivered to Apple and there are no guarantees their streamlined trade-in process works if you don't follow it. They make it very clear to use the provided return label. It's very bad advice to use a different carrier and step outside Apple's clearly defined trade-in process.‘I would, except the FedEx label identifies the trade-in information.

With Apple and the prepaid Fedex label Apple can try and get the package insurance money back from fedex. If you ship through UPS and it doesn't arrive then you can deal with UPS yourself. Not to mention that insuring something as expensive as an AWU isn't cheap and carriers try to get out of actually having to pay out the insurance. Even if they do it takes weeks or even months.
OP, I would remove that image you have of the FedEx label. You can see your street address and Googling you can turn up all kinds of info (e.g. your age and political party registration). FYI...

Your and my information is already out there for all to see. Just a matter in one of the bad guys picking you. Almost every company you have left your information with have had it hacked. If you work for the government it is hacked for sure. I don't worry too much about the hacking, much more serious things to be worried about!Fair enough, but a gun won't protect you from identify theft.
