I need an external monitor for my new macbook and planning to get the HDMI adapter. Anyone know a decent ultra wide monitor they have personally used for their macbook?
Im not fussed with 4k but want to make sure performance is smooth.
I have the LG 34UM95 and I highly recommend using DisplayPort through your Thunderbolt connection if you have one as opposed to HDMI, then you get the benefit of 60Hz, and better colour representaton.
As this thread is about the MacBook which does not have a Thunderbolt connection can I point you to CalDigit who promise the immanent release of a USB-C dock that includes a display port. More expensive than Apple adapter but there is a wider range of connection possibilities. To maximise performance of the monitor there might be other docks or adapters worth considering - anyone got suggestions?
